Remember remember the fifth of November, gunpowder treason and plot!
Some dates are remembered as a lesson to remind us what can go wrong and a traditional way to encourage people to remember was through the use of rhyme. Before the majority of people could read and write many rhymes were taught to ensure knowledge was not lost. Of course good rhymes were used also to the same effect. Often these developed into folk tales and even folk songs, to be sung by traveling minstrels moving from one village to the next.
Nowadays we are more literate and instead of learning rhymes we send cards and invitations, read newspapers and write emails. Of all the cards we send or receive there is nothing quite like a high quality Save The Date Card. Such a simple little message, the twitter of cards may be just two names, a date and the words “Save The Date”. Simple, but oh so effective.
